Stage 2 results

The results for the second stage were just announced. Unfortunately, I did not pass on to the third round. I am of course disappointed, but at least I am happy with how I played. Deep inside I am relieved that I am done and can now spend my time going to the beach, watching amazing performances and writing blog entries.

The six chosen to play the chamber round are:

Noel Wan

Remy van Kesteren

Gwenllian Llyr

Ina Zdorovetchi

Valérie Milot

Emily Levin

The Mario Falcao Prize ($1,500) for the best performance of the free choice contemporary piece went to Remy van Kesteren.

The Irena Kaganovsky Prize ($1,000) for the best performance of the Renié went to Emily Levin.

Congratulations to everybody who made it this far!

WHAT? Oh, my dear! I'm so sorry and shocked! But so rediculously proud of you!!!! You have worked so hard (duh) and it's been neat to hear your musical progress (at least philosophically over the phone) that you've made over the past two years of prepping; I know that you've come leaps and bounds from your excellence that already was.

For what it's worth, I give you the special Ann Marie Liss prize of best rendition of the Ginastera on Youtube. And another special prize for linking the music world to the inside of the competition through your blog (I have more to say on that later...). :)

Do you have any clue as to the rhyme or reason of the jury in their decisions?

I think it's time for you to take a well deserved nap, lady!

Well, congratulations on getting so far and on playing your best! I have really enjoyed reading about your trip, and I hope that you will get to enjoy it now, too - go eat some more of that delicious food that I saw in an earlier post for me, okay? :)

So you were somewhere between 16th place and 7th place out of 20.

Well, enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Thank you everybody for your wonderful support! This has been an absolutely phenomenal, insane, unforgettable life experience. Now that I finally have time to think, I am overloaded with thoughts to process. I will sort it all out and get back to you soon with something more coherent. Thank you again, so much. I'm sorry I couldn't have done better this time, but this is not the end of life's adventures! I'll still be updating the blog and following the competition till the end. I'm looking forward to hearing the finalists!

Dear Elizabeth, I have been following your accomplishments with great interest , and am very proud of you for getting that far into the competition. What an honor to participate in such a world class event. I would have lost 20 lbs from being all nerves. I can imagine how much preparation and work went into it. I know you may be slightly disappointed for not getting into the next stage, but as you know, the effort you have invested will benefit you in many ways. You may build on this great experience. So, now, please relax and enjoy the rest of the players and Israel.
